Observatory Director
Dr. Brian Rachford Dr. Brian Rachford is an astrophysicist who specializes in research on stars and the interstellar medium. His interstellar medium research involves the portion of the "galactic recycling" process where material expelled from dying stars gathers into massive clouds of gas and dust that will eventually form new stars and planets. He teaches a mix of introductory physics and astronomy courses and upper-division astrophysics courses, and works on a variety of research projects with the Space Physics majors.

He has been responsible for the construction of 25-meter and 22-meter class radio telescope.  He is providing instruction and guidance in the operation of radio astronomy equipment at the observatory.

Faculty and Staff Presentations

The faculty and staff of the Observatory have made many presentation to the scientific community, astronomical societies and as an outreach program to the local community at large. We have selected a variety of these presentation for you to gain some insight into the activities of the Observatory at Embry-Riddle University, Prescott.
